#FlexBoneFriday: Ayotte & King Install FLEXBONE at College of the Holy Cross

Ayotte & King Commercial Flooring Contractor used ARDEX UI 740™ FLEXBONE® Uncoupling Membrane at the new College of the Holy Cross Thomas P. Joyce ’59 Contemplative Center. The 3,800 square-foot complex features a chapel, meeting rooms, dining room and accommodations for 60 people.

Bathroom floors received ARDEX UI 740 and then tiles were set using ARDEX X 5™ Flexible Tile and Stone Mortar. Here’s what Ayotte & King’s Project Manager Al Trombley had to say:

“Using ARDEX FLEXBONE 740 was similar to using competitive uncoupling membranes except it was easier and quicker to tool the thin set – basically one pass. Again team ARDEX puts out another quality product. We would certainly recommend FLEXBONE but not to our competition as they can keep using the more expensive product! Working with the proactive team of ARDEX has proven time and time again to be the driving force behind a ton of successful installs for our company…”

Al had MORE to say about his experience with FLEXBONE…read more after the jump. Continue reading

#FlexBoneFriday Feature: Ceramic Tile & More Owner John Coombs

When a new 800 square foot bakery was scheduled to open in Michigan, health codes required that all flooring be tile. Half of the space was existing quarry tile and the rest was painted. With an expedited time frame, traditional floor remediation would be too costly and time consuming.

Ceramic Tile & More Owner John Coombs decided ARDEX UI 720™ FLEXBONE® Floating Uncoupling Membrane was the perfect product for the job. “I was most impressed when the health inspector required a sink be installed next to the cash register (after the tile was done) and they had to build a stub wall.  I drew the wall dimension on the tile and cut straight through the tile and FLEXBONE, picked the waste piece up and threw it in the dumpster. It took less than 10 minutes with no chiseling or mess to clean up!”

Thanks for the review John!

In The Words of A Digital Marketing Intern

This summer we had a fabulous Digital Marketing intern, Gina, who helped out with our department efforts. We asked her to give us a summary of her experience with us, and this is what she had to say! Enjoy:

Who would have ever thought that working for an engineered cement company would have a big impact on social media? When I first thought about interning at ARDEX, I just kept thinking “how much work could it be to post on social media?”  It seemed like an easy job that did not require a lot of my own thoughts. Oh boy was I wrong! There is so much to do with social media and so many things I learned.

Depending on the size of the company, a digital marketing position can be a full time job. After interning at ARDEX, I fully understand why companies hire people to do it full time. There is so much more to the job then creating posts for Facebook and Twitter once a day. In order to create the posts, the company needs content. The content can be about anything: new products, installation case studies, how-to videos, things happening within the company, etc. After finding the content and creating the post, it needs to be launched to various social media outlets. Not every post created will work for every social media website since some, like Twitter, have a character limit. This could create a problem and requires two posts written in a different way. After the post is published there is no going back, once it is out there on the internet it must be monitored. There are many different websites that companies can use to track their specific social media engagements. Working with social media can be hard sometimes especially if the companies posts are not monitored closely. When people ask the company questions through social media, they expect an answer within a reasonable time frame, if not given an answer they could create a bad reputation for the company. Having a bad reputation on social media can really hurt a company and their business, since social media plays a huge part in today’s world.

Working as the intern, I learned many things that involve digital marketing. I never would have thought there would be so much to do online especially for an engineered cement company!  One of my favorite things I learned was how to collect information to create social postsfor Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and the ARDEX blog. After I created, scheduled and published my posts for the week, I had to monitor them. Creating the different posts was one of my favorite things I did this summer because it made me feel like a real digital marketing specialist!

#FlexBoneFriday Feature: Ken Ballin of Skyro Floors

Every week, it’s such a pleasure to feature a new tile installer who has tried ARDEX FLEXBONE Uncoupling Systems. Today’s ARDEX UI 740 FLEXBONE Uncoupling Membrane review comes from Skyro Floors owner Ken Ballin!

“Everything I’ve used from ARDEX has been top notch along with the service I’ve been given. On this particular project, my ARDEX sales rep  Tom Quackenbush came out to start the job with me to make sure I was comfortable with the materials. The FLEXBONE uncoupling membrane was easy to work -we used ARDEX AF 207, ARDEX X 5 and ARDEX FL grout. I will continue to use ARDEX on my future projects and greatly appreciate all the support you guys give me!”
